AP's more fluxed state gives opportunity for more challenging self-goals, such as capturing the AI fleet's most powerful ship of its kind, never sold in shipyards. Though the biggest and baddest ships can only be captured through investment-heavy boarding action. And if I get my head right, gets the headquarters earlier not sure if you get your personal sector earlier either, though.īecause of the war, all races developed more ships to use, including larger and heavier ship classe variants. Terran start gets race-exclusive campaign. Terran starters have an opportunity to have a Terran version of the player headquarters for end game, holding more materials and ships if you like fleet management (you'd like your large ships protecting your stations, or manufacture and command trade ships for your trading plans, either way). Terran has many lowest buying price stations, and has the most combat-oriented ships with the tech to match (at the expense of having very limited yet energy efficient weapon choices), especially with the ATF and its better-spec, visually intimidating (if not barely fitting through gates for its largest ship) fleet counterparts. Having played both games, I consider TC to be more favorable towards beginners, since races are not openly hostile, but AP has a wider selection of ships, but will make some deep sacrifices at mid-endgame that will restrict what you can do, especially on Terran or Argon start characters (since they are at war).Įither way, in AP, if you want to get along with the major races more easily, the wars make building a station complex and reputation bridges. The Xperimental Shuttle is only earnable in TC. If your native race is Argon, Terrans in the Warzone will shoot at you. Shipyards being able to refit whole wings only exists in AP. The Yaki are a joke no matter what way you put it, no-one likes them and most of thier stuff is so sub par not even a Teladi would salvage it. While the game as a whole is more sandbox oriented the plots are more story driven and do even less to teach, as if that was possible. All Capital ships have had thier HP increased by at least 5 times (The Argon Titan for Example going from 500,000 to 5,000,000) and many fighters and interceptors have slightly improved HP. First notable thing is that the Militaries are running absolutely rampant and pirates have been mostly suppressed outside of Teladi space (save for one time when I saw them go on a burn campaign), the Xenon are running equally as rampant with some of thier more isolated sectors seeing semi-constant action. In AP the universe is more active military wise, the Terrans have Expanded and a war has ignited between them and the Argon, Cold wars between the Paranid/Argon and Split/Boron are heating up, fun. Other than that it wraps up the Kha'ak who've been around since X2 and introduces the Plot for Albion Prelude. A later plot encourages you to start really putting effort into setting up your own economy and mass production. The second plot you'll come across (Operation: Final Fury) Encourages the formation of your first real fleet around a Frigate or Destroyer. Personally I would recommend starting with Terran Conflict, the various races militaries are less rampant, pirates and Xenon more abundant, and the various plots make an effort to teach you how to approach things like economy and military (plus one or two that hae neat stories in general). I know that albion has a lot less problems to it, but i don't know if it has a tutorial and how much plot i'll miss out on Kha'ak Sectors are only accessible via jumpdrives.Originally posted by Xoyv:so i've been trying to get into this series, starting from the first, up untill a friend recomended that i just stop and play X3īut the thing i'm wondering is whether i should start from terran conflict, or albion prelude The colour of the border shows when red it was introduced by Albion Prelude. The colour of each cell shows its owner. (You should place your base near these sectors to maximize productivity) Here is a list of shipyards based on race that are most likely to have every single race factory and ship for that race.
